Protective covers are generally divided into two categories.
One type is indoor protective covers, which have a simple structure and are inexpensive. Its main function
is to prevent the camera from gathering dust and has a certain safety protection effect, such as anti-theft and
anti-vandalism.
Another type is the outdoor protective cover, which is generally an all-weather protective cover. That is,
regardless of adverse conditions such as wind, rain, snow, high temperature or low temperature, the camera
installed inside the protective cover can work normally. Therefore, this kind of protective cover has functions
such as cooling, heating, rain protection and snow protection. Meanwhile, to ensure that the camera can still
capture images normally in rainy or snowy weather, controllable wipers are usually installed in front of the
all-weather protective cover's glass window. At present, the better all-weather protective covers are those that
use semiconductor devices for heating and cooling. This protective cover is equipped with semiconductor
components, which can both automatically heat up and cool down, and has relatively low power consumption.
One type is indoor protective cover.
The sealing performance of the outdoor protective cover must be good to ensure that rainwater cannot
enter the interior of the protective cover and erode the camera. Some outdoor protective covers are also
equipped with exhaust fans, heating plates and wipers, which can better protect the equipment. When the
weather is too hot, the exhaust fan works automatically. The heating plate works automatically when it is too
cold. When there is rainwater on the protective cover glass, the wipers can be activated through the control
system. When choosing a camera protective cover, the first step is to accommodate the camera and lens in use
and leave some extra space. Secondly, select a suitable type of protective cover based on the usage environment.
On this basis, accumulate the weight of the entire front end of the camera, including the protective cover and the
pan-tilt, and choose a bracket with the corresponding load-bearing value. It is also necessary to consider the
overall structure. The fewer the installation holes, the more conducive it is to waterproofing. Then, check whether
the internal circuits are easy to connect. Finally, the appearance, weight, installation base, etc.should also be
taken into account.
In the protective covers, apart from the spherical protective covers used in integrated camera systems, there
are also cylindrical, rectangular and other different shapes. The application scenarios are mainly divided into
indoor and outdoor types. The indoor camera protective cover is mainly aimed at decoration, concealment and
dust prevention, while the outdoor type, as it is used all day long, should be able to adapt to different usage
environments. The main materials of protective covers include aluminium, alloys, extruded materials, stainless
steel, etc.
